In accordance with guidelines from both Tennis Ireland and the National Sports Council, our Club has appointed Jim Blackwell and Mary Evans in the roles of Child Protection Officers. Both Jim and Mary have attended seminars and awareness workshops given by Roger Geraghty the Tennis Ireland Director of Development and National Children’s Officer. Another Club Member Marguerite Jennings has also attended the various programmes.

We have given priority to the practical aspects of the long list of general recommendations, and have implemented those sections that we consider reasonably manageable and at the same time practical for child welfare in a small rural Tennis Club such as ours. Sensible safeguards have also been put in place for the Junior Day Trips that take place every summer that involve the ten to sixteen year old players.
