Phase 1 Covid Relaxation Rules

Dear Members,

We are approaching the commencement of Phase 1 of the lock-down relaxation rules and the beginning of a return, hopefully, to a semblance of normality. Subject to the Government confirmation later this week, as from Monday, May 18th, tennis will be one of the sports permitted to recommence on a limited basis. The basics are:

  1. Pre-book your court online or via the phone app.
  2. Only people core to playing should attend tennis activities such as players, participants, coaches and operational personnel .
  3. Arrive and leave as close as possible to when you are due on court.
  4. A parent/guardian must accompany any player under 18 years.
  5. Play should be limited to singles only during this phase of the reopening. The only exception for doubles is if playing partners are from the same household. Further doubles play will be considered in future phases of reopening. Each player should bring their own, marked tennis-balls with which to serve and not touch the other players tennis-balls, returning them via racket or foot. Maintain the two-metre social distance at all times, changing ends on opposite sides of the court.
  6. Players should arrive ready to play as there will be no access to the clubhouse during this phase.
  7. Please sanitize your hands on arrival and all touch-points on leaving. Ensure the gates are padlocked and sanitized.
  8. Do not loiter off-court. Please observe social distancing rules at all times.

Decisions will be made later regarding the Tournaments and members will be notified as the season unfolds.

Please be sure to read the statement found on Tennis Ireland's web site,
